The Mahogany Series
This is a recent body of work in Italian Statuario Marble carved in relief. It is a series of work
experimenting with carving an image in negative, positive and a combination of the two. Using the transparancy of Statuario Marble when carved in the negative, very thin, and properly lit, I have found the mind will see this carved image... which is within, as positive. It has been for me, a journey into our Inner Presence.
What is without form, is within. What is within, is without form...but is present.
Existence is... within the shadows cast.
I have mounted this work on or within a Mahogany
frame... thus the name for the series.
